Hey guys, want to wish you a happy new year and welcome to my newly developed blog.
I wanted to do this for a long time but never actually pulled it off.
I know that some of my German friends and followers might ask: why would I write in English?
However, the majority of my family is Afro-American descendants and it would be quite unfair
to them to write in German. My blog will be mainly about the topics that I'm interested in, but I
won't be afraid to step out of my "comfort zone" of writing, if an important event requires it.
The layout might change from time to time as I am still learning to improve the blog from other blogs.
The magic of New Year's Eve?!
Yes, I do admit that I have intentionally put an exclamation mark behind a question mark in this subtitle.
What is so special about the night before the New Year?
You may argue it is the beginning of the end of an old, exhausting year, a new start how people like to call it.
Unfortunately they are often brought back down to earth once they realize the new year has started exactly the same way the old one has ended.
Sometimes they give up their New Year's resolutions in the very first week of the new year or even worse something real bad happens to them despite all the misery they have had in the last year.
To be honest I cannot recall how often I had huge expectations of New Year's Eve, planning for weeks, just to realize in the end that all my plans crushed some days before the event, or even worse, the party turned out to be expensive but boring and useless.
Do not get me wrong! It can be awesome to party out, booze-cruise or to follow the stark opposite and have a five-course dinner in an extravagant five star restaurant of your choice.
But one thing I have learned over decades: the best New Year's Evenings are not identified by the locations you run to, they are identified by the people you run along with and the bottom line is:
always stick to your beloved ones.
This is how I celebrated New Year's Eve 2011/12
